Innovation and Sustainability in Business

The International Immersion in Portugal provided students with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable and innovative business practices. Reputable for its long history of trade and business Porto has easily adapted to the latest developments in sustainability and technology, so it was clear there would not be a better place to investigate the fusion of innovative sustainable practices with traditional industries than Porto.

Participants gained insight into how sustainability and innovation are integrated into the operations of top Portuguese companies by immersing themselves in this environment and actively engaging with these concepts in real-life cases.

Academic Immersion

Industry leaders held academic sessions for the Global Executive MBA students of the International Immersion. Topics covered in the curriculum included using systems thinking for sustainability, integrating circular economy into business models, and disruptive innovation with global impact. With expertise in sustainable business transformation and strategic leadership in sustainability, these sessions were led by experts such as Diego Soroa Manuela Pintado and the team of Luís Rochartre and António Vasconcelos. The interactive nature of the program, which included collaborations, workshops, case studies with presentations, and some outdoor classes, added a dynamic element to the learning experience, making it both engaging and immersive.

Refreshing Blend of Business Learnings and Cultural Immersion

Beyond the enriching academic sessions and insightful company visits, our students had the wonderful opportunity to explore the vibrant culture of Porto through a memorable sailing experience. The boat ride allowed everyone to engage in a bit of sport by trying their hand at sailing or simply to take in the beautiful views of Porto. Celebrating the end of their learning journey, this fun activity brought the participants closer together.
