Marietta Ulrich-Horn offers tips for the application interview

The question here simply is: How can you shine during your interview? One of the easiest ways to do so is to dress appropriately. You are not expected to wear a suit, but look neat, clean and smart. Also, make sure that you are on time. Turning up late doesn’t really look efficient.

Preparation is key

Moreover, I recommend to reflect prior to the interview on the 5 key pieces of information that you want to make sure come across during the interview. By preparing this mental checklist ahead of time, you make sure not to forget something important because it did not come up in the Q&A session.

Make sure you answer the questions you are asked. Do not write out answers to questions you think you will get but really engage in a conversation to help people better understand your personality, knowledge and ambition.

Show a real interest in the position

Be authentic, be dynamic, be yourself. Also, demonstrate your ability to listen and answer clearly, be brief, but complete in your responses, and don’t worry if you take a moment after the question to prepare your response. This might avoid giving a confused or incomplete response.

And last but not least, do not forget to ask questions that demonstrate your interest in the school and that you have read the brochure and visited the website.
