Dr. Thomas Funke has been involved in the global startup ecosystem for 15 years now. In addition to setting up a research studio at the WU Vienna, which deals with tools and methods of the startup world, he founded different startups and still lectures at universities. Phillip Nell is the Academic Director of the Executive MBA Bucharest, Professor at the Institute for International Business Wien and Head of the Competence Center for Emerging Marketings and CEE. Nikolaus Franke is the Academic Director of the Professional MBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation. He founded the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in 2001 and has been serving as its Director since then. Under his responsibility, the institute has carried out over 600 projects with start-ups and innovative firms, spun out over 300 start-ups, earned research grants of more than 7 million EUR, and published academic research that has been cited more than 10,000 times.

Barbara Stöttinger is the Dean of the WU Executive Academy and the Academic Director of the Professional MBA Marketing & Sales. She holds a doctoral degree from WU Vienna. In 2003, she earned her post-doctoral qualification in international marketing. Before joining the Institute for International Marketing Management, Barbara Stöttinger worked in the marketing department of an international consumer goods manufacturer (consumer electronics) and as a consultant.
As part of her research, she has spent considerable amounts of time in the USA and in Canada. Moreover, she has lectured on marketing and international marketing in Europe, Asia and North America for many years and has won several teaching awards.
