Prof. Barbara Stöttinger and Prof. Bodo B. Schlegelmilch celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Executive MBA Bucharest program.

“The Executive MBA Bucharest has definitely helped my career. I made an extremely courageous change to another business sector and with the knowledge I gathered from the MBA, I managed to motivate a new team and turn us into a high-performance unit got more and more successful. The program opens doors to areas you hardly dared to think of and gives you remarkable trust in yourself as a business manager”, said Stefan Popescu, Class President of the cohort graduating in 2013.

“I am very happy to see that we all contributed to the ascent of the program in this country during these 10 years. This anniversary is something unique as we have the chance to meet up with 10 generations of alumni and this evening can be a starting point for ice breaking debates, new start-up discussions and original ideas”, continued Popescu.

A leading program in Romania

Launched 10 years ago thanks to financial support from OMV/Petrom and Erste Bank/BCR, the Executive MBA Bucharest originally was an initiative aiming to strengthen Romania's economy by providing executives with high-quality training. Today, the program boasts a “triple-crown accreditation” (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS), which is an extremely rare hallmark of excellence, and, in recent years, it has always come either first or second in the renowned “Ziarul Financiar” Executive MBA ranking.

Prof. Barbara Stöttinger, Dean of the WU Executive Academy, and Prof. Bodo B. Schlegelmilch, Academic Director of the Executive MBA Bucharest, are absolutely delighted with this impressive track record: “Although the original sponsors no longer award scholarships, we have managed to successfully establish the Executive MBA in both Vienna and Romania. The program is in greater demand than ever.”

In her keynote speech, Prof. Stöttinger expressed her special thanks to Rudolf Lukavsky, Commercial Counselor at the Austrian embassy in Romania, for supporting the program unstintingly over the years.

An amazing academic atmosphere

The anniversary party, organized by the WU Executive Club, was attended not only by students and alumni of the program but also by some of the country's leading journalists and by special guests including Gerhard Reiweger, Austria's ambassador to Romania.
