The career event with a difference

A 10-minute career investment that will pay dividends: More than 85 MBA students and alumni attended the last highlight in the career event calendar before summer. The “Speed CV Check” that the WU Executive Club organized for its members on June 3, 2016 had a lot to offer. Apart from featuring keynote speeches on selected hot topics, it provided participants with an opportunity to get exclusive expert advice from internationally leading executive search partners and to take advantage of one-on-one career consulting. Special emphasis was placed not only on CV and compensation checks, but also on the question of how to promote one's career professionally in the online world. The positive feedback from both participants and HR managers shows that this evening was a true win-win situation for everyone.

The WU Executive Club prides itself on organizing extraordinary events for the WU Executive Academy's MBA students and alumni. This year's Speed CV Check, held at the WU Executive Academy on June 3, 2016, provided students and alumni with an opportunity to interact with HR decision-makers and executive search experts. Erste Bank Group and Boehringer Ingelheim were the corporate partners participating in the event; the executive search experts included Accord Group, Ambuzzador, Amrop Jenewein, Brenner & Company, Career Angels, Conrad Pramböck, Eblinger & Partner as well as Inner Circle Consultants.

How a Speed CV Check works:

In as little as ten minutes, participants are provided with concise one-on-one career consulting and feedback on their career track record - before moving on to the next expert. In the run-up to the event, they can use an online registration system to make appointments with those specialists they are particularly interested in talking to.

A success on both sides of the table

“In settings like this, you usually get either no feedback at all or feedback only on your interview performance but not on your application documents. Never before did I have such an opportunity, and I am pleasantly surprised at the wealth of useful input. It was very interesting to interact with the ‘mysterious professionals’ that are HR managers and headhunters in a non-interview situation. Learning more about the impression that your two-page summary of your life makes on experts is a great chance you should definitely not miss out on,” says a current Professional MBA student.

And Professional MBA Finance alumna Ivana Zmikic, Ina Segment Thematic Leader Upstream Controlling at MOL Group, adds: “It was a great opportunity for me to expand my network and to get in touch with different recruiting agencies in one place. The feedback that I received during the event was very valuable for my job search.”

The participants could reserve their meeting with experts who particularly interested them in advance through an online registration system.

Claudia Hoffmann, HR Business Partner at Boehringer Ingelheim, too, is certain of the benefits of the event: “We are absolutely thrilled about getting to know future graduates who are interested in joining Boehringer Ingelheim either in Vienna or at one of our CEE offices. Students from the CEE countries are one of the WU Executive Academy's special target groups, and our Vienna-based office also puts particular emphasis on the CEE region. Hence, we complement each other perfectly. Thank you for organizing this event, which has brought considerable benefits for both our company and your graduates!”

“Erste Bank Group considers it very worthwhile to closely connect with the students and alumni of the WU Executive Academy: almost 3000 top experts and leaders often from the same countries where Erste Bank Group has its presence. Regular events between Erste Bank Group and the alumni help to facilitate an exchange of the latest trends in the financial industry or the possibility to get to know each other as potential employer – employee,” says Martina Ernst, a Global Executive MBA graduate herself and Head of HR at Erste Bank Group.
