Here the basics of civil law are taught. The topics covered include personal, family and property law as well as debt and contract law.

Basic knowledge of labor and social insurance law as well as real estate law including in-depth study of selected areas.

The second part provides the imparting of basic knowledge and understanding of the following legal areas: civil procedure law, international private law, credit security, enforcement and insolvency law.

In three blocks, the basics of General Business Law are taught. This includes both Capital and Company Law as well as Commercial Register, Private Foundation, Capital Market and Insurance Law. In addition to the framework conditions (EU law, supervisory law), the relevant private law issues (conclusion of contracts, General Insurance Conditions, basic features of the individual insurance branches (especially: liability insurance, life insurance)) are discussed.

In the third block, the basics of Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition Law are taught. Students learn to correctly classify and solve typical case scenarios and gain a good insight into contractual design options.

This module deals with highlights and developments in Business Law.

Negotiation strategies and communication tools are tried out and related to one's own professional practice. The introduction to English legal language, which is necessary to move competently and confidently in English, especially in the field of business law, completes this module unit.

The module provides the basics of material economic administrative law and shows in a procedural part the ways of legal pursuit and enforcement.

Furthermore, the module provides basics of formal as well as material European law. Building on this, the basic land law is discussed with practical administrative materials of environmental law, building and zoning law as well as commercial law.

The aim is to present the basics of the tax framework for national and international business activities. Basic knowledge of income, corporation and sales tax law as well as in the field of other indirect taxes and tax criminal law should be conveyed.

Building on this, students acquire knowledge of the tax framework for national and international restructuring as well as cross-border business activities.

The practical professional case work enables the intensive connection of content acquired during studies and professional practice over an extended period of time. At the beginning, legal issues are identified as they are currently pending or have arisen in professional practice. Over a period of several weeks, these case studies are elaborated and processed using the acquired legal knowledge. In a final reflection, in addition to the initial situation, the implementation and the challenges that have arisen are discussed. Within the framework of peer review sessions and summarizing reflection units with speakers, the findings are reflected upon again and the learning outcome is thus expanded and consolidated.

The LL.M. is aimed at current and future executives who regularly encounter legal issues in their professional lives and wish to expand their legal knowledge in a targeted way. It is ideal for decision-makers across a wide range of industries – whether in the private sector, public administration, or non-profit organizations – who seek to develop a solid understanding of legal frameworks in order to make strategically sound decisions.

To apply for the LL.M. in Law for Executives, you must hold a completed degree (of at least 180 ECTS credits) from a recognized university and have at least three years of professional experience following graduation. A strong command of the German language, both written and spoken, is also required.

In principle, an LL.M. degree meets the formal admission requirements for a doctoral program. However, we do not unreservedly recommend pursuing a doctorate directly afterward. It is important to first consider what specific goal you aim to achieve with a doctoral degree.

A doctoral program is focused on advanced academic research. Compared to graduates of a traditional law degree, LL.M. graduates may often begin at a disadvantage. Therefore, it is essential to clearly articulate the specific added value that a research-oriented program would offer in your case.

The master’s thesis can be written in any area of law. It offers the opportunity to specialize in a particular field and to engage deeply with a specific topic. All lecturers in the program are also available as potential thesis supervisors.

The admission interview is conducted as a three-way conversation between the applicant, the program management, and the academic director. It serves three key purposes:

• Personal Introduction – The interview emphasizes the program’s individualized approach and allows us to get to know the applicant better.

• Review of the Questionnaire – The information provided in the questionnaire is discussed together.

• Opportunity for Questions – Applicants have the chance to ask any remaining questions.

No, the LL.M. program is intentionally designed as an in-person course of study. A key component of the program is the personal interaction within the class - an aspect that cannot be fully replicated in an online format.

Performance in the LL.M. program is evaluated based on three core components: the Pre-Module, the Core Module, and the Post-Module.

• Pre-Module: This module prepares participants for the course content.

• Core Module: Assessment includes attendance and active participation during the course.

• Post-Module: This phase focuses on applying and deepening the newly acquired knowledge.

Each module grade is derived from the evaluation of these three components. There are no traditional exams in the LL.M. program; instead, the emphasis is on continuous performance and the practical application of knowledge.
