A huge demand meets a newly interconnected economy
To most of Europe, Africa still means crises, catastrophes and wars. But times have changed: one-third of the 54 African countries can expect GDP growth of more than 5% this year. Africa will soon have the largest workforce and governments invest heavily in education and infrastructure.
Moreover, Africa is the first “mobile-only” continent which has simply by-passed the stage of fixed-line telecommunication and leapfrogged to pioneering digital solutions. 60% of its 1.2 billion population are owning a mobile phone which gives them access to their bank accounts, acts as a credit card, and provides them with medical advice, gives them market information and a platform to sell what they produce – generally it has become a tool to earn a living. What many also don’t know that countries like Kenia, Nigeria or Rwanda host a wealth of young entrepreneurs who were successful in creating new markets, fulfilling the demands of the locals where global companies were not successful.
This Learning Journey will immerse you into one of East Africa’s most thriving economies and allow you to experience this vibrant business environment from many perspectives.
