The hallmark for excellence in executive education
Following the successful reaccreditation in 2013, WU – including the WU Executive Academy - has now again received the EQUIS hallmark of excellence for five years, the maximum period possible.
EQUIS is one of the most important accreditations in the world besides AACSB and AMBA. This hallmark of excellence is awarded only to those universities of economics and business that meet the strict EQUIS quality requirements. EQUIS reaccreditation is the result of a comprehensive evaluation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), the agency that grants EQUIS accreditation, in the course of which a thorough quality assessment took place.
Prof. Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger
External experts visited WU in November, 2017, for an on-location examination of WU's teaching and research and of how well it fulfills its third mission responsibilities. The Peer Review Team saw that WU meets EQUIS' high standards in all the required areas, and even exceeds them in eleven sub-sections. This is a substantial improvement as compared to the last reaccreditation review, when only four sub-sections were rated “Above Standard." The Peer Review Team was particularly impressed by WU's unique role and position in the Austrian academic landscape, its international relevance, the high academic level of its students, WU's excellent connections to the business community, the success of its graduates in their later careers, and WU's efforts in the areas ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. This is a result we can all be proud of, because it is a product of all the hard work performed by WU's entire faculty and staff in research, teaching, and administration.
"As part of WU, we are extremely pleased that we have again been granted this distinction as it reflects our sustained efforts to offer an executive education portfolio that is among the best in the world," say Prof. Barbara Stöttinger, Dean of the WU Executive Academy, and Dr. Astrid Kleinhanns-Rollé, Managing Director, expressing their happiness about the favorable outcome of the EFMD’s assessment.
