Impressions from the 10/15/20 Year Reunion

How time flies! Our Global Executive MBA Class of 2013 was among those coming together during our recent 10/15/20 Year Reunion event! And the group left quite the impression by winning the grand prize for most participants from a single class present at the reunion below the Wiener Riesenrad!

But one evening of celebrations and reminiscing was not enough for the ‘VEMBA 2013’ (at their active time the course was often referred to as Vienna Executive MBA)! They organized a whole reunion weekend! And not only that, but a whopping 21 of the 39 GEMBA graduates of 2013 participated in at least one of the program points during these days.

Natalia Litvinova, GEMBA 2013 alumna and one of the organizers, shares:

‘It was amazing to see from where some classmates had travelled to participate: a transatlantic flight from Canada, joining from Warsaw, Jordan and Dubai, driving 900km overnight from Lviv in war affected Ukraine and travelling from St. Petersburg, as there are currently no direct flights, first six hours to Dubai and then, after a nine-hours´ layover, another six hours to Vienna.’ If that is not commitment!

The group even took to the tracks by going on a railbike tour through scenic Lower Austria.

And this activity had a lot of parallels to completing an Executive MBA:

  • All participants pay the same, start together and arrive as one.
  • Everybody of the group needs to contribute as only good teamwork can get them going.
  • There is competition but collaboration is the way to success.
  • Sometimes the track goes uphill and sometimes downhill.
  • Just as important as the experienced bikers are those supplying water and raincoats to everybody to keep the spirit high!
  • And finally, it is a new, unique experience for all participants and creates a lot of memories to talk about in the future when looking back!

And even after this weekend full of memories and enjoyment this will not be the last joyous occasion for the GEMBA class of 2013 this year: the next chapter will take place in July! Two classmates are tying the knot and have invited the whole GEMBA class to celebrate with them!

It is just as Natalia finalized her tale: ‘This shows that we were able to keep the spirit high, even ten years after graduation, and we are committed to continue going forward.’

A very big thanks to GEMBA 2013 alumni Natalia Litvinova, Andreas Huber, and Derin Kader for bringing the class together during all the years! We are so proud to see that the journey you have commenced on together at the WU Executive Academy is continuing!
