A party of people cheering at dinner
The new students of the part-time program, Executive MBA Bucharest, celebrated their MBA-kick-off at the Otto Wagner Schützenhaus.

Even before its start in mid-November, the current class of the Executive MBA Bucharest had set a record: This time, a total of 29 international managers attend the Romanian flagship program. The majority of the students, whose average age is 36 years, come from Romania (68%), but the class also includes managers from Austria, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. One third of the participants work in IT and telecommunications, 18% in banking/finance/insurance and 11% each in retailing, the energy sector and the manufacturing industry.

It is a great joy to be able to support so many outstanding executives in their professional and personal development. Our students benefit substantially from the considerable respect that the Executive MBA Bucharest has earned at the regional and international levels. After graduating, ⅓ of our alumni take their careers to the next level, 35% change jobs and 10% even go into business for themselves. The fact that our graduates put their newly acquired practical skills and theoretical knowledge to good use and, in doing so, move up the career ladder is a wonderful testament to the efforts we have made in recent years.

Efforts made in recent years bear fruit

The outstanding profile of the current class ties in with previous successes achieved by the WU Executive Academy's only non-Vienna-based study program: The Executive MBA Bucharest boasts a “triple accreditation” (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS), which is a rare hallmark of excellence. Moreover, no fewer than 4 times, it has been ranked the number 1 MBA program in Romania by “Ziarul Financiar”, a renowned business daily.

It goes without saying that these are great achievements. But what makes us special is the people at the WU Executive Academy. We have not only highly motivated teams in Vienna and Bucharest that are passionate about the success of the program, but by now also more than 230 satisfied alumni, who recommend the program to their contacts. You could not wish for better ‘ambassadors’.

The Executive MBA Bucharest program starts in Vienna for the second time.

It all begins and ends in Vienna

In November 2016, the new students began their MBA training by attending a Welcome Reception and a first week of in-class sessions in Vienna. The fact that the program not only ends but also starts in the Austrian capital is a welcome innovation introduced in 2015.

“By completing a residency right at the beginning of their training, our students have an opportunity to get to know even better not only their program and their colleagues but also Vienna and the WU Executive Academy, leading to stronger bonds and greater trust,” concludes Prof. Bodo B. Schlegelmilch.
