Only a short stopover in Moscow? Read about these hidden spots - told by a local
Who knows a city better than a local or someone who has lived there for many years? Professional MBA Marketing & Sales alumna Angela Putylina shares her favorite bars, places and hidden spots in Moscow, which give it such a special flair. Discover the city from a very personal and, most probably, very different perspective.
What is your favorite place to eat in Moscow?
My favorite restaurant in Moscow is Ruski situated 354 meters above the ground, where you get premium Russian cuisine. It is a panoramic restaurant in "Moscow city" located on the 85th floor of the "Oko" skyscraper.
The restaurant is part of the 354 Exclusive Height group and is considered the highest restaurant in Europe. The menu is a creative rethinking of the heritage of Russian gastronomic culture. That said, it also includes traditional meals like the slowly cooked Russian cabbage soup, fish soup and pie, and international culinary delights such as various tartare dishes or noodle wok.
The centerpiece of Ruski is an eight-meter Russian stove. It serves dishes from a special "oven menu": hare and pork ribs in sour cream and Guryev porridge for dessert. The bar menu features numerous Russian spirits and liqueurs. Many of them can surprise you with extraordinary flavor combinations. Examples include the Rowan Negroni and marinated vodka.
As a Moscow insider, what places do you recommend visiting which can’t be found in a tourist guide? Please share your hidden spots.
I moved to Moscow in 2005, and I have been discovering my fantastic, energetic metropolis, which never sleeps! I would recommend visiting the Multimedia Art Museum at the Kurskay metro station.
Why is Moscow one of the coolest places in the world? What makes it special?
Moscow is an ultra-modern city, where historical epochs are intertwined with outstanding cultural values and the revolutionary and military heritage of the past. This city is actively developing, becoming more open and friendlier to its guests. We traditionally love foreigners, so you will experience hospitality at its best when you come to the capital. You will be filled with the energy of a big city (the history of Moscow spans more than 870 years) and will want to come here again and again. The ladies are stylish and beautiful, smart and sporty. The gentlemen are gallant and reliable. Come and see for yourself all the beauty of the mega-capital, which is home to 12 million people and attracts a huge number of guests and tourists.
Since my childhood days, I dreamed of living in Moscow - and I'm glad that my dream has come true. Today, Moscow, in my opinion, is the best city in Russia for both business and the realization of talent. I am really happy to live here with my beloved family and my colleagues from the WU Executive Club!
